Lose Weight on an Elliptical Trainer

I am a 5'3 female who had gotten up to 210 lbs!!! 2 months ago, I joined a gym and changed my eating habits. I started on the treadmill but it was sooooo boring!!! I moved to the elliptical and the weight started falling off. So far I've lost 30 lbs with 25 more to go to reach my goal. I am on the machine 4-5 times a week for 30 minutes. It is an amazing workout and I recommend it for anyone who wants to lose weight!

Love the Elliptical

I just started taking full advantage of the elliptical because the treadmill has gotten really boring. I am on it 45 minutes 3 days a week. I love it!

Elliptical Trainer for Weight Loss

I have been using an elliptical trainer for a year and a half. I use the elliptical approx. 30 minutes a day 3-4 days a week. I lost 20 lbs within the first 3 months (without dieting). I started out at 170 lbs. Since I lost the 20 lbs I have not lost much more weight, however I have lost several inches. I am wearing clothes that uses to fit really tight when I was at my highest weight. My clothes fit great. I love the elliptical because it is very low impact on the body but it gives you a very high impact workout.

I use the Precor EFX 576i. The weight loss setting gives you intervals of 4 minutes at a high resistance/incline and 4 minutes at a low resistance/incline. However, I have done the weight loss setting so long that I now manually set my incline and resistance to push myself more and give myself more of an optimal workout.

I wanted to thank both of you (above) who have commented on losing weight using an elliptical. I have reached a weight of 255 lbs and I am only 5'2". This is the heaviest I have ever been and I actually love elliptical trainers but I must admit, I have not been consistent. I joined a gym and was only doing about 2 days a week for 20-25 minutes and then if I missed one day at the gym, it was followed by another day, then another day. I need to remain consistent to see the results I am looking for. I am so motivated now and I, again, thank you. I look forward to updating you on my success.

Lost 20 lbs Using Elliptical Trainer

I too recommend the elliptical trainer. I joined a gym 3 months ago and weighed 240 pounds and lost 20 pounds already. I just moved to 40 minutes 3-4 days a week and just bumped up to level 6 on the hill setting on a Life Fitness elliptical machine. I love it!
