The Nautilus NE 2000 Elliptical Trainer – Top Performer from Nautilus Fitness

The Nautilus NE 2000 Elliptical Trainer is one of the most popular in the Nautilus elliptical machine lineup. This is their $2,400 entry into the cross trainer market and it has been performing right up there with the luxury class ellipticals from the start. Consumer Reports rated this model an excellent value in 2006, ranking it just below a similarly priced Precor.

The Word on the Street

Trainers consistently recommend the Nautilus NE 2000 as one of the top choices in the $2,000 to $3,000 price range. They praise the smooth elliptical motion and articulating foot plates, both of which increase the comfort level on the Nautilus NE 2000. If they have any complaints, it’s that the stride is a bit too short at only 16.” In an elliptical trainer at this price point, they expect a stride of at least 18” to accommodate taller users.

Those who have purchased the Nautilus NE 200 elliptical trainer have been very pleased. They like the performance, the extremely quiet operation and the relatively small footprint for such a substantial machine (it weights in at about 180 pounds). The warranty was often the deciding factor for purchasers comparing this particular machine to others in the same price range.

Our Thoughts

Although famous for their BowFlex, Nautilus Fitness has become a leader in fitness equipment like elliptical trainers as well. They stand behind their product and their warranty is exceptional, so if you ever do have a problem it will be resolved quickly.

Some people will look at a Nautilus NE 2000 and find it less stylish than similarly priced machines by other manufacturers. But for us, the performance and reliability are most important, and this elliptical trainer has both. For a reasonable price in the mid to high-end market, you’re getting one of the best long-term performers there is.

One more thing – we love the machine’s LED console. It’s designed to give you the ability to monitor four different types of feedback simultaneously and displays it all on an easy-to-read screen. Add in the two options for heart rate monitoring that are included, and we’re sold on the Nautilus NE 2000 elliptical trainer.
