The NordicTrack A.C.T. Pro Elliptical

The high-end NordicTrack A.C.T. Pro elliptical is similar to the two lesser expensive A.C.T models with the same adjustable 18" to 22" stride length, workout arms with soft grips and in-handle controls, and compatibility with iFit ® programs. This Pro model, however, also comes with a big price tag and that’s where value is left behind.

The Word on the Street

The NordicTrack A.C.T. Pro elliptical is a heavy machine with a compact footprint: it measure 51 inches in length and 38 inches wide. The operation is quiet, and the ergonomics and adjustability of this trainer are average, but experts point out that it is weak in terms of reliability, warranty, and value.

There are many similarities between the A.C.T, A.C.T Commercial, and the A.C.T Pro – but this design is $500 higher in price with no significant improvement in quality or features.

Elliptical pros and reviewers are hard-pressed to name another trainer offering such little value for the price of $2,499. Then there are the elliptical reviews written by many unhappy NordicTrack customers, which are savage.

The biggest issue is the inferior quality and difficulty of assembly because of the poor quality control at the factory. For instance, the bolt holes don’t line up, poorly packaged broken parts arrive with the unit, and the A.C.T Pro seems to develop odd squeaks and knocks after only a few months of use – something a $2500 machine should not do.

Our Thoughts on the ACT Pro

There is no justification for paying that kind of money for this machine. Don’t even think about it. There are many, many outstanding elliptical trainers with good value in the $2000 - $2500 price range to choose from. The NordicTrack A.C.T Pro elliptical would not place in the Top 40.
