The Word on the Street

UPDATE:  Pacemaster is no longer in business, and the Silver XT is no longer available for sale.

Check out our best treadmills in the $2000-$3000 range for a comparable model.

Good high end choices for you include Life Fitness, Matrix and Precor, all top brands with great reputations and plenty of choices for you.

Pacemaster is better known for its high performance treadmills, many of which are on numerous “Best Buy” lists, so when they came out with a single elliptical design, it was held to a higher standard by equipment experts who expect near perfection. And the Silver XT passes with flying colors.

The ultra smooth patented double-strut drive and glide bar system, which separates the footpads from the motor drive system, is just one of the elliptical’s many advanced engineering features.

Though the Pacemaster Silver XT lacks adjustability and an incline ramp, its ergonomically correct design and the positioning of the workout arms keeps the body upright. This reduces pressure on joints while isolating and targeting specific muscle groups, and your core, for a full body workout.

Elliptical reviews praise this debut elliptical by Pacemaster as a gem among residential machines. It offers commercial machine features such as the Strides Per Minute monitor, which is an LCD screen readout that helps pace the user to ensure maximum results.

The Pacemaster Silver XT also offers a whisper quiet smooth ride, as well as diamond plate footplates that not only eliminate the problem of your shoe sliding around the pedal, they prevent your feet from falling asleep during longer workouts.

Pacemaster Silver XT - Bottom Line

It was love at first sight, and got even better after that. The biomechanics and ergonomics on this machine are superior; it is manufactured with quality components, and has programming and features normally found on health club machines.

The trainer has an MSRP of $2,999 but has been on sale for around $2,199, which only improves its already outstanding value. The Pacemaster Silver XT elliptical rates a Best Buy.

Editor's Note:  As the Silver XT is no longer being sold, look at other high end choices from Life Fitness, Matrix and Precor for something comparable.
