The Precor EFX 5.17i Elliptical Exercise Machine – Fluid Workouts, Silent Operation

For a company’s entry level elliptical trainer, the Precor EFX 5.17i elliptical exercise machine is an amazing piece of craftsmanship. Precor quite simply doesn’t make an elliptical trainer that isn’t top notch quality. This is their lowest priced model and consistently lands near the top of many professional reviewers’ suggested buys lists.

What You Get

The Precor EFX 5.17i elliptical exercise machine is a professional grade piece of exercise equipment with fluid movement and nearly silent operation. It purrs along with virtually no need for maintenance and repairs and gives you plenty of features including:

Precor EFX 5.17i Elliptical Exercise Machine
  • Adjustable incline from 12-25 degrees
  • 20 resistance levels
  • 4 pre-set programs
  • LED Console with color graphics
  • Reverse motion
  • Child safety features
  • Optional chest-strap heart monitor
  • 10 year warranty on parts, 1 year on labor

The Word on the Street

Precor is the name that comes to many trainers lips first when asked what brand they recommend for a home elliptical trainer. Like all of their equipment, the Precor EFX 5.17i elliptical exercise machine has established a reputation for virtually no repairs or problems, reliability under even the toughest workout conditions and a smooth, comfortable ride that you just don’t usually find outside of a professional gym. A professional will tell you that these are a great investment for anyone truly serious about their workout.

Compare Prices at Amazon

Individuals who own a Precor are intensely loyal. After owning one they’re seldom satisfied with another brand. The way these machines fit the body, the generous 19” stride and the adjustable incline all contribute to owner satisfaction. The only drawback that is occasionally commented on is that the heart rate monitor isn’t included in the price. When you get into this price range, it really should be.

Our Thoughts

While the pre-set programs aren’t as varied as on some models in this price range, the varied resistance levels and adjustable incline give you more than enough versatility. You will see such a difference in quality between a Precor EFX 5.17i elliptical exercise machine and most others in this price range that the fit and smoothness of the glide alone will probably sell you on it. Add the generous warranty (proof that the company uses high quality components) and you’ll be ready to break out the credit card. Our only concern – if you want an upper body workout, bypass this model and move up to the next level of Precor elliptical trainer. It’s a shame, but this model doesn’t include an upper body workout.
