The Proform Crosswalk 8.0 elliptical is a center-drive trainer that measures about half the footprint size of a regular machine. It is also an awesome, comfortable, low-impact, calorie-blasting fitness machine — and wait until you see the low price!
The Grafixx™ High Resolution display features an animated electronic figure to work out along with you, as well as readout information showing time, calories burned, pulse, revolutions, and rpms. The Proform Crosswalk 8.0 elliptical comes with 20 iFIT workouts designed by certified personal trainers to control the speed and resistance of the workout automatically, while the recorded voice of the trainer offers tips and motivation.
The features on the Proform Crosswalk 8.0 include:
UPDATE: ProForm no longer makes the CrossWalk 8.0 or any other mid-drive elliptical machine. If you are interested in a similar machine check out NordicTrack's ACT Commercial Series.
The Proform Crosswalk 8.0 elliptical comes with a magnetic resistance system that provides a smooth, frictionless, and ultra quiet operation. The upper body workout handlebars tone your arms with real resistance (not just swinging opposite to your leg action). The built-in handlebar sensors monitor your heart rate to help you stay in the Target Heart Rate zone when working on weight loss, aerobic, or performance goals.
There aren’t many elliptical reviews on the Proform Crosswalk 8.0 yet but since it is a copy of the NordicTrack A.C.T Commercial elliptical, (NordicTrack and Proform are both made by Icon Fitness), you can expect it to be quiet, solid, and heavy — quality construction although not actually “commercial quality” as the brochure pitches.
Users have been expressing their love and appreciation of their NordicTrack A.C.T., giving it an average score of 4.5 out of 5 stars.
If you prefer an arc trainer over ellipticals but can’t afford one, then a center-drive elliptical with a long 22" stride is the happy compromise. Except for the different console, the Proform Crosswalk 8.0’s frame and design is basically identical to the NordicTrack A.C.T, a phenomenal machine that sold for $2000 when it came out but has been selling online for $899.
The Proform has an MSRP of $1699 but sells for $699. Both products come with free shipping, which saves you another $125. We don’t like the display on the Proform Crosswalk 8.0 elliptical as well as the NordicTrack but either machine at $699 and $899 respectively are good prices for highly effective cardio/weight loss trainers.
Here is your chance to rant or rave about the elliptical you use at home or at the fitness center.
