Experts like to point out some of the improvements the Smooth CE Plus elliptical has over the original CE model. The most important one is the longer stride at 19", and the display is much easier to read. The elliptical trainer’s LCD console made by Siemens is larger than on the older CE and it’s nicely backlit. Some of the other nice features of the Smooth CE Plus include the sealed ball bearings, foot pedals mounted on rollers sliding in the rails, huge 50-lb flywheel, and a USB interface for interactive software training.

The downside to this machine is the $2799 MSRP price tag, but if you can find it on sale for under $2300, it’s a good buy. If you have trouble finding this model at this price, take a look at the Smooth CE 7.4 model which is less expensive than the Smooth CE Plus elliptical but still offers the same consistent quality.
