The Word on the Street

Go green and save electricity with the self-powered ProForm 1200e crosstrainer; simply start pedaling and your human energy powers the display console.

The elliptical also features SMR™ Silent Magnetic Resistance with ten intensity levels, a 20" stride length, large flywheel, 1-Touch™ controls, heart rate sensors on the handlebars, upper body workouts, oversized pedals, and a large footprint.

The ProForm 1200e is a stable machine but elliptical reviews recommend it not be ridden by users over 270 or 280 pounds. Don’t go by Proform’s user weight capacity ratings – the 350-lb top limit seems too high. Other than that, you’ll find the reviews are favorable for the ease of use and set up, the programs, and the smooth ride.

When reading other reviews, be sure you aren’t confusing the 1200e elliptical with the rear-drive ProForm Epic 1200 Pro. The model numbers are alike but one is a front drive and the other a rear-drive unit.

The rear drives have large inclines and a more natural elliptical motion when pedaling.

Our Thoughts

The $1299 ProForm 1200e elliptical is the same in design and components to its close cousin, the NordicTrack Elite 1300, with the exception of a different console and the iFit® compatibility, as well as another sibling brand model, the Reebok RL 1500. (Reebok, NordicTrack, and ProForm are all built by Icon Fitness.)

Since the three are nearly identical, you can choose between them to see which has the programming and cosmetics that is most appealing to you. Any one of the three is a Good Buy.
