UPDATE:  The EX-58 elliptical has been discontinued and replaced with the new and improved EX-59 model.  Read our review here

The Horizon EX-58 elliptical trainer has a 14.3-lb flywheel, a large drive pulley ratio, a decent 18" stride length, and 10 levels of quiet magnetic brake resistance.

The patented SixStar Certification on the frame includes design modifications so that you are in a natural position in the overlapping pedal motion while walking or running, a low entry step-on height, handlebars that are closer to the body to eliminate stretching during striding, and more.

Other features of the Horizon EX-58 include 10 program options that allow for on-the-fly changes for incline and resistance setting, pivoting foot plates to allow for natural foot movement, ComfortFIT™ foot pads, a fitness fan to keep you cool during workouts, and contact hand grip heart rate sensors.

The elliptical trainer also has an entertainment feature: two quality speakers built into the console, a headphone output, and an input for your MP3 audio device.

Our Thoughts

Horizon EX-58 Pedals

The Horizon EX-58 is a discontinued elliptical trainer that was replaced by the EX-59, although they are the same model with no modifications done.

Reviews on either machine have been outstanding since both have the advanced SixStar Technology (the older EX-57 model does not) and offer a great workout.

The 18" stride length may feel a bit short if you are used to health club machines and the 1-year warranty should be extended, but other than that, both the EX-59 and Horizon EX-58 elliptical trainer rate as “Best Buys” with above average at $599 with free shipping.
