The Weslo Momentum 750 Elliptical Trainer – Workouts on a Budget

The Weslo Momentum 750 elliptical trainer falls into the category that’s distinctly budget-minded. In fact, many sites don’t even review the Weslo line because it falls below the $500 price point that they consider the lowest you should go for a decent elliptical machine. Keeping this in mind, you can get a Weslo 750 for right around $200 if you’re truly living on a shoestring.

What You Get

You aren’t going to get any extras when you’re paying less than $250 for an elliptical trainer. This is a bare minimum machine that gives you only what you absolutely must have to get a workout. The Weslo Momentum 750 elliptical trainer features:

Weslo Momentum 750 Elliptical Trainer

  • Manually adjustable resistance
  • LCD display console
  • Compact design
  • 4 pre-set programs
  • 17” stride
  • Hand grip pulse monitor
  • Warranty: 90 days parts and labor

It’s not much, but in order to get a safe, properly working machine, Weslo has had to strip it down to the very basics.

The Word on the Street

UPDATE:  As of 2016, it looks like Weslo is no longer making elliptical trainers.

Take a look at our list of Best Ellipticals Under $500 to find a good machine in this price range.

We’ll tell you up front that trainers simply don’t recommend elliptical machines that come in at this kind of a price. They know that certain things suffer when you’re cutting corners on costs. The first thing is reliability and stability.

The Weslo Momentum 750 is a lightweight elliptical trainer – it will wobble when in use and can “walk” across the floor if not actually fastened down.

Many professionals actually question the 17” stride as well, believing it’s actually closer to 16” or even less – they say the feel is too choppy and short to be as advertised.

Consumers, even those with little basis for comparison, are usually disappointed with the Weslo Momentum 750 elliptical trainer.

The ride isn’t very smooth, and at least one purchaser complained that if you placed the Weslo 750 on carpeting you were practically inviting it to tip over while in use.

Our Thoughts

Keep in mind that the Weslo Momentum 750 is a low end elliptical trainer, so you aren’t going to get the ride you would find at a gym or fitness center. This is also a manual machine; there’s no motor, and it doesn’t plug in.

All resistance is produced by your own efforts, and the LCD monitor runs on batteries, which can be a hassle.

With a 90 day warranty, consider the Weslo Momentum 750 elliptical trainer a disposable machine – use it for a year or two if you must, then move on to better things.
