Kettler Elliptical Trainer Consumer Review

by Corinne
(Minneapolis, MN)

We have a Kettler elliptical trainer and have had numerous problems with the electronics. I'm not able to tell you the model of the machine because it's at the repair shop once again. It was fine for the first few years but last year we had to have the electronic system replaced and most likely need to replace it again since it is not working. I'm the only one in the household that uses the elliptical and depending on the season it gets used on average about 3 times a week, so not heavy use. I could understand the electronics breaking or wearing out with heavy use, but that is not the case at our household with moderate use and housed in an exercise room. I question the quality of their electronics (Siemens) and because of this am not happy with this brand and wouldn't purchase a Kettler elliptical trainer again.

Kettler Unix PX didn't last long

I bought one of these 3.5 years ago. I deliberately bought a German made elliptical as all of the various Asian ones I had had before failed in about a year's time. Recently I got an E1 error code on the interface which was unusable. Kettler told me that it was probably both the motor and the computer, and that both would cost me over $300 (and I would have to install them). I had really hoped that this would be a quality product, lasting more than 3.5 years. Failing that, I would have expected competent technical support, but the people with whom I interacted were seemingly reading from a script and did not have any technical knowledge. Very disappointing.

Sorry to hear about your experience with Kettler ellipticals. We usually hear good things, but as with everything else, sometimes you end up with a "lemon".

Also surprised to hear about the poor customer service...it used to be quite good, but perhaps it's gone downhill.

Let us know if you buy another elliptical trainer and what your experiences are. Thanks for sharing!

Kettler Axos Cross P

by Jack
(Missouri, USA)

Bought this used off of Craigslist.com for $150(like new, regularly sells for $600-$700) based on Kettler reputation. It is a 2014 model. Very solid, very smooth. A little creaking noise from plastic housing as it flexes but other than that very quiet as far as moving joints are concerned. On Kettler's website there is very little difference between the $1900 Unix PX model and the entry level Axos. The higher priced model's computer tilts and is backlit; it has a 14.5 lb heavier flyweel, smaller "Q" factor of 8" instead of 10, 1yr more warranty, 45 lb more weight capacity. Smaller footprint than Axos in LxWxH but larger glide path. The Axos says 15" glide path but it is actually 18". I'm 6'2" and stay in fairly good shape running, bicycling and weight lifting 5x/week. My first time on it for 20 minutes in air conditioning had me dripping with sweat. I bought this along with a Fitness Reality stationary bike and a treadmill so I could crosstrain indoors out of the 100 degree outside heat. Very pleased. Would buy Kettler again.
